Three hundred years of history are behind the "Moros y Cristianos" of Biar. They are one of the oldest festivities in which the side of the cross and the crescent shake hands.

The municipal archive keeps one of the documents, the “Llibre dels vots conciliaris de la Sala de la Vila de Biar”, which dates its origin to 1803. It is the first reference to the existence of two companies, one of Moros and the other of Christians, who participated in the festivities held in honor of the Mare de Déu de Gràcia. It reads how a license is requested to commemorate the Mare de Déu de Gràcia festivities on May 10. Although two hundred years before, Biar already organized parties in honor of its patron saint, who was honored with the arquebus salutes of the soldiery.

Like every May 10, the Biar festivities will once again make history. Blanquets, Blavets, Maseros and Estudiantes, on the Christian side and Moros Vells, Moros Tariks and Moros Nous, will parade. The residents eagerly await music, color and joy to flood the town, for the Moors and Christians to return from where they should never have disappeared, from the streets.

The calendar marks the great days of Biar. Thus, Biar begins this May 10 the Moors and Christians festivities in honor of the Mare de Déu de Gràcia with the traditional Angelus prayer from the balcony of the Town Hall and subsequent raising of flags at 12 noon to give way, at 5 p.m. :00 hours, at the entrance

The celebrations will last until Friday, May 13, when after saying goodbye to the town's patron saint, the Mare de Dèu de Gràcia, the different comparsas will proceed to perform the "Tancada de banderes", an act that will close the "Moros y Cristianos festivities.
